If I said this design was easy, that would be a lie. The 1920s is not a look I would personally associate with my design aesthetic, but I'll make it work.
For the group our challenge was to design for a specific event our "client" would be attending, INSPIRED by the 1920s (so not costume but modern wear with nods to the 1920s). I was assigned to the event after hours speak easy, which in modern terms a night at the bar.
My plan was to incorporate some key defining features of the 1920s, while maintaining my signature details (so different opacities of fabrics, interesting line work). I opted for the traditional usage of fringe on the bottom, but this fringe is mixed with the traditional kind as well as beads and sequins. Also shown is the dropped waistline in the form of where the dress ends and where the sheer fabric beings. And because I lovvee leather, there's leather trim that's mixed in with the sparkle details on the bodice.
I really do hope that one of our judges approves, as she states that she specializes in historical fashion and vintage, and this is her passion (slightly nervous hehe )
Accessories: chain and feather earrings because I wanted to incorporate this trend in a modern sense, Nine West Black Multi Jo heels because these are fitting to the design without being overwhelming [link], Nine West Silver/Black Pat Sy Grecian Minaudiere for her to hold all her essentials (keys, cell phone, money, etc...)
