...you're certainly talented enough to be, but your style is not so commercial. Which means either you have your own company, or work for one of the big couture houses (almost no companies buy single-freelance-styles anymomre). Either or, you wouldn't have time at all to sit and idle in here so much.
Also, since most fashion design starts off with moodboard/inspiration, then fabrics, and lastly style-design, and you kinda go the other way around is also a hint

it's kind of funny you say im not commercial, ive always thought that i wasnt artsy enough and too commercial
and im self-taught, so that probably explains why i dont do things the "normal" way, though i am relatively well-versed in fabrics, as well for moodboard/inspiration, i like this quote by chuck close "Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work." which is how i view things as well.
and you're right, im not a pro
